To all concerned:

Flags are becoming a hot topic. The question of flags and color displays in general will be handled equitably during the Park City Pride experience just like everything else.

For example, it was suggested that each flag could be "donated," or "sponsored" per se, by members or other patrons, that perhaps each standard or guard spot be "priced" to encourage these donations, and that there be a quota or percentage limit for each corps based on level of that corps' participation. For example, at this juncture the Buccs and PAL would be equivalent and have the most standards to potentially "donate." Right now it's approximately 40% Buccs, 40% PAL, 9% Troubadors, 9% ND-ettes, 2% "others."

Alternatively, last night I saw a beautiful flag at Christmas Village. Mike Marella and the PAL Youth Dept. might be able to supply/loan 18 flags of all the same design (black, gold, red and white). They're very nice too and coincidentally contain Buccs, PAL, ND-ettes and Troubadors colors!

The question of an American flag section was raised as well and who would carry the colors. Again, there are parade rifles and an American flag available at the Village. I will lobby for an American flag section with at least one American flag, possibly more. If there is a quation about who would bear the US colors, perhaps these spots could be "sponsored" as well in order to encourage "donations."

To answer Cliff Richmond's question, as I understand it there are no old PAL flags or Buccaneer flags available.

We'll see what develops over the next few weeks. But I think I speak for all when I reassure everyone that there will be a balance of colors in every aspect of this thing when all is said and done.

Sincerely,
Carl

Reunion Corps Flags:

I like the sound/looks of the 18 flags that Mike Marella has the opertunity to get for us.  The colors are those of most "everyone" involved.

To tell you the truth, I haven't been thinking of myself as a former PAL Cadet lately, but as a present member of the Park City Pride. I don't see any purpose in breaking the membership down by former corps to allocate flags.

I do think there should be an American Flag section. We always had one in the old days and most of the recent corps have one as well. As to who carries it...I don't really have an opinion. Seems that we could have someone from each of the corps in the section carrying the flag(s) and rifles.

If its okay with everyone else, I think its fine to carry the colors from the PAL.  As to old corps flags.  There has to be one from the PAL Cadets, it was at the reunion in September.

Looking forward to Sunday

Just like we begged borrowed and stole (don't tell Father Louie) all the other equipment, flags should be the same ... sounds like those being offered up by Mikey fit the bill ... as far as the A-flag ... it should go to whoever can carry it for the length of the parade ... it will be the heaviest flag ... it may be necessary to "rotate" the carriers based on stamina ... some of the drummers may have to consider this also to get through the entire gig ...
